This coming Buddhist Holy Day on 19th February is Magha Puja Day. It’s the day that four marvelous events occurred simultaneously:
1. 1,250 disciples came to see the Buddha without being summoned.
2. All of them attained enlightenment to the point of being the Arahants, the Enlightened Ones.
3. All of them were the Ehibhikkhus, monks ordained by the Buddha himself.
4. It was a full-moon day.
On such auspicious occasion, the Buddha gave those disciples the teachings of the Ovadapatimokha, which is considered as the heart of Buddhism and consists of the religion’s purposes, principles, and procedures. Three most notable principles are ceasing from evil, doing good deeds, and cleansing one’s mind.
